I know you need it today, so I will tell you concisely using Psalm 29, “The Lord will give strength to his people” (Psalm 29:11). What kind of strength can the Lord provide for his people? His voice alone can shake the wilderness (v. 8). His voice can make the deer calve and strip the forest bare (v. 9). His voice can break in pieces the cedars of Lebanon (v. 5). His voice is powerful and majestic (v. 4), it thunders over many waters (v. 3), and that is only a glimpse of what he can do with his voice alone.
The psalmist gives us that limited description of God’s strength to remind us of his power and encourage us that the Lord will strengthen us. Whatever battle the Lord has placed before you today, he has done so to show his strength through you. Whatever battle you are facing is no match for the voice of the Lord. Whether your struggle is long or short, fierce or simmering, external or internal, the Lord sits as king forever (v. 8). He will be glorified, and you will enjoy him forever.
Knowing this, worship the Lord. Ascribe to him glory and strength (v. 1). Ascribe to him the glory due to his name and worship him in holy array (v. 2). That holy array is the righteousness of Christ that is yours through faith in Jesus and purchased for you on the cross. Not only will the Lord give strength to his people, but he will also bless them with peace (v. 11).
Go in strength and peace,
-D. Eaton

I needed this – thank you. An antidote to life’s troubles is to deliberately remember how unspeakably awesome our God is, and what He has done for His people.
